Zen Essential Oil Blend
There are times when you do not need more energy, but you are not looking for complete stillness either. You simply want to feel a little clearer, more grounded and back on an even keel.
That is where Zen comes in.
I formulated Zen using Lime, Bergamot and Vetiver essential oils. It has a fresh citrus opening, followed by the deeper, earthy aroma of Vetiver that gradually becomes more noticeable as the blend diffuses.
Lime brings a clean, lively freshness. Bergamot softens that brightness and adds a gentle citrus warmth, while Vetiver gives the blend its depth and holds everything together.
Without the Vetiver, the citrus oils would quickly disappear into the room. Without the Lime and Bergamot, the Vetiver could feel too deep and earthy. Together, the three oils create a balanced aroma that feels fresh, grounded and easy to live with.
Zen is a lovely choice when your thoughts feel a little crowded, when you want to concentrate without using a particularly energising blend, or when the atmosphere around you needs to feel more settled.
I often reach for it while working, reading or having a quiet moment at home. It is also a good blend for rooms where you want a fresh aroma but do not want anything overly sweet, floral or minty.
As with all my formulations, I did not choose these oils simply because they smell lovely together. Each one has its own part to play within the blend.
The Lime and Bergamot bring lightness and freshness. Vetiver brings depth and steadiness. The result is an aroma that may help you feel clearer and more grounded while creating a balanced atmosphere around you.
Aroma is very personal, and the blend you enjoy one day may not be the one you reach for on another. Zen tends to appeal when you want something that feels fresh but not overly stimulating, and grounding without becoming heavy.
Add a few drops to your diffuser or oil burner and let the aroma unfold gently through the room.

The light citrus freshness of Lime and Bergamot is balanced by the earthy depth of Vetiver, creating an aroma that feels fresh without becoming sharp and grounding without feeling heavy.
I enjoy using Zen while working, reading or whenever I want the room around me to feel more settled and comfortable.
Zen begins with the fresh citrus aroma of Lime and Bergamot. As the blend diffuses, the deeper, earthy character of Vetiver gradually comes through.
The Vetiver prevents the citrus oils from feeling too bright or disappearing too quickly, while the Lime and Bergamot keep the blend from becoming overly earthy.
The finished aroma is fresh, light and grounded. It is a lovely choice when you want to feel clearer and more settled without using something particularly stimulating or restful.
Add three to five drops of Zen to your electric diffuser, following the instructions for your particular model. In a smaller room, begin with two or three drops and add more only when needed.
For an oil burner, fill the bowl with water before adding a few drops of the blend. Check the water level regularly and never leave a lit burner unattended.
Zen can be enjoyed while working, reading or whenever you would like the atmosphere around you to feel fresher and more settled.
